Reciprocity by Design: Reconnecting People, Place & Purpose

In this experiential workshop, participants explore how nature’s model of reciprocity can help us design systems that uphold dignity within ourselves, our organizations, and the world around us. Drawing from Reciprocity Rx™, a framework developed through our programs on public lands, we’ll move through four phases—Receive, Reflect, Return, and Reconnect—to ground, listen, and design from relationship rather than extraction. Through guided reflection, small-group dialogue, and movement inspired by natural cycles, participants will leave with practical tools for staying resilient in turbulent times and for embedding reciprocity into the systems they shape.

About Barry

Barry Williams is a former professional skydiver and co-founder of Hiking My Feelings and Wellness in the Wilderness (WITW) Consulting.

After beginning his career in technology serving Fortune 100 clients in Manhattan, a single skydiving experience shifted his path. Within 18 months, he left corporate life to pursue a 16-year career as a professional skydiver and instructor, mentoring students in high-stakes environments that required clarity, trust, and calm under pressure. Before retiring from the sport, he ran the largest civilian skydiving school in the world.

Originally from New Hampshire, Barry grew up hiking and backpacking in the White Mountains, where he earned his Wilderness EMT certification. Today, he brings that same grounded adaptability to co-leading wilderness wellness programs and supporting public lands agencies, nonprofit teams, and corporate partners through immersive, nature-based programs.

Barry is the steady presence behind every experience—designing for safety, pacing, and psychological trust so participants can stretch, reflect, and reconnect without overwhelm. Whether he’s guiding a hike, preparing a shared meal, or documenting moments under the stars, he models responsive leadership rooted in presence rather than performance.

Influenced by Bruce Lee’s principle to “be like water,” Barry approaches turbulence with flexibility and focus—an anchor for teams navigating change.
